chocolate cake filled with tangy orange buttercream and topped with a chocolate
finish and orange slices.

Ingredients:
Cake Batter:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup whole milk
- ¾ cup vegetable oil or coconut oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract
- 1 tsp pure orange extract
- 1 cup hot, freshly squeezed or prepared 100% pure orange juice
Chocolate- Orange Cream Cheese Icing:
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 8 tbsp of butter
- ½ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 tbsp of very hot orange juice
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp of orange extract
- 8 tbsp of cream cheese
Direction:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Grease two (8 inches) round cake pans and line with parchment paper, grease the parchment then lightly dust with cocoa powder.
- In a large mixing bowl whisk the dry ingredients together until everything is combined.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil and extracts and beat until everything is well fused.
- Bring orange juice to a quick boil, then pour it into the batter. Stir until completely blended.
- Divide batter evenly between both cake pans and bake for 35‐40 minutes, until the centre is set, and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool.
- While cakes cool, cream the butter and sugar together.
- Add the cocoa powder, hot orange juice and extract and beat until well blended.
- Beat in the cream cheese until smooth and whipped.
- Refrigerate until firm (roughly 30 minutes).
